Summer Letters

August 2017

Dear Club Member and friends

This letter is to remind you that our Club meets again on Tuesday 5th September at 8 pm. As usual this will be our (very short) AGM, so it is the ideal opportunity to give us your ideas and thoughts about the club and what you aim to knit during the next year. You can of course e-mail me with ideas for club meetings so that we can try and include them in the programme. The programme we have is very flexible and I’m sure changes can be made.  We are still looking for an assistant organiser who can lead the meeting when I can’t make it. If you would like to give it a go, please get it touch.

·         This year along with the AGM we would like to help solve some of your knitting problems and queries.  Bring along a either your work in progress, or pattern, yarn and needles and we’ll see if we can sort it out between us.  We’ll have machine there if needed. Don’t forget your knits to show and tell.  We do like to see them if possible as it encourages us to try and complete our items as well.

·     Speakers are almost non-existent at the moment but we’ve included some new items in the programme (see next page) which we hope will keep you coming to the meetings. If we do hear of a speaker we will of course try and book them and swap them in for one of the months.

·         We are able to keep the subs at £15.00 for the next year so please help us by having your cheque ready (made payable to “Fleet Machine Knitting Club”) or the correct money to hand and maybe in an envelope with your name on it. As an alternative, if you don’t expect to be able to make some of the meetings you can opt to pay £3 per night that you attend. There may be a small additional charge for everyone if we do find a speaker.

·         As the knitting challenge has become less popular we thought it time to take a break from it and instead include a 2nd charity knit evening to finish in July.   We would like to continue to support the Friends of the Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton Branch with donations of knitted and other new, unwanted, items for our Christmas charity.  (I haven’t heard how much they made in 2016 as they have changed their accounting year, but as soon as I do I’ll let you know.)  We would like suggestions for local charities & organisations to support for the Summer Charity Evening.

I think that’s all the important stuff. So I hope to see you at the September meeting. The AGM Agenda and programme for 2017/18 are on the next page.

Looking forward to another successful year of knitting.

Regards

Liz Holness - Club Organiser
